On September 2, 2014, DESY submitted a proposal for a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) under the European Framework programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020. The proposal targets at the EU-Russian cooperation in research infrastructures, it is entitled “Connecting Russian and European Measures for Large-scale Research Infrastructures” (CREMLIN).
CREMLIN aims at opening the Russian so called “megascience” projects for cooperation with European research infrastructures. The Russian Federation is ready to invest more than 3 billion euros during the implementation phase 2014-2020 into this initiative.
The CREMLIN consortium consists of 19 organisations, 13 European research infrastructures and 6 Russian institutions. The Ioffe Röntgen Institute is essentially involved in this effort.
